December, here we come!

I am so ashamed to admit I haven't blogged since September!  I have been so busy with orders and everyday life, I haven't been able to just sit down and jot some things down.  I have worked on  a lot of wonderful, fun items for people!  The most popular are my brimmed hats and cross-body purses!  I will post some pictures really soon, I promise! In the meantime, here are a few pictures of some things I have been working on...

This is my sweet little clutch or cell phone holder. As you can see, it works for just about anything!

I have started making my clutch bigger and adding a cross-body strap to it and making it into a very stylish purse

I had a special request from a friend to make a football hat for them and I found this wonderful, easy pattern on etsy. If you want to see a wonderful crochet pattern shop, check out the link here:

Football hat pattern purchased at: Angel's Chest Boutique

My brimmed beanie is a classic here at my shop. I just love making them and they are so warm and comfy wear!  This wonderful pattern was created by Add Some Stitches on etsy.
If you want to see that etsy shop, click on the link here: Add Some Stitches

This picture isn't the greatest..my mannequin was acting up being a diva and wearing the hat all crooked! Sheesh!

Just as a reminder, I am taking special orders through December 5th for guaranteed delivery before Christmas.  I have a lot in stock as well, if you have any questions, please contact me! You can email me anytime!

I do plan on selling on etsy really soon! Stay tuned for more shop news! Ü

a work in progress...my book wreath!

I have been working on a ton of projects lately...and I wanted a place to show what project it is and the process in making them!  So, very soon, I plan on showing you how I am making a book wreath a sweet friend of mine taught me how to make.  I'm at a stand-still right now finishing it because I ran out of hot glue sticks!  I'll be back soon with pics and how-to's and it will be located in my new page "tutorials" (clever, huh?!)  As soon as I figure out how to do that....  xo aimee

I was yarn bombed last night!

My mom has been helping my Grandma Nonnie cleaning out her office which is also her sewing, craft, yarn stash room.  She is an amazing grandma, she can quilt, sew, knit, crochet, cross stitch...not to mention all the awesome other grandma things she does too!  My grandma taught me how to crochet when I was 9. My mom tells me that I am grandma's protege!  So, in light of them gutting grandmas room, I was delighted to see oodles of yarn dropped off to me last night! They were delivered in old grocery bags and I had no idea what I just got myself into!  So, I decided to lay everything out onto my day bed (that I use as a couch..cute idea, huh?) and see what exactly I just adopted.  And alas, here it is! In all its glory!  I got tons of all different color yarn!  My grandma loves making baby blankets so there is a lot of white, pink light green and so on.  My most prized possession I received was cotton! I got probably 2 lbs worth of worsted weight cotton in all sorts of colors. Cotton yarn is great for washcloths, headbands, purses, and bags!  Free is a good thing!  Thank you, Grandma Nonnie, I love you.  Thank you for teaching me to crochet.  xo aimee

I also found lots of patterns and 1/2 made projects that she stopped making. It's cool to see something that she started and just for some reason, didn't finish. How many of you have unfinished projects? (I do!)

What the heck am I going to do with all this teeny tiny floss/thread stuff? I have been experimenting with some making really small crochet flowers. I guess I will never ever have to buy more!

Remember I said this was a twin size day bed? So, yeah, it's a lot of yarn! Oh, that is my cat, Boo Boo. She was grumpy that the yarn is in her way..she always finds something to be grumpy about. Thanks for stopping by! xoxo aimee

A New Crochet Hook I Am in Love with!

I was cruising one of my favorite blogs I follow, here and noticed a new crochet hook out there that would make my life way easier!  It is a sharp crochet hook! Now, for many of you out there that do not crochet, the tips of the hooks are usually a dull bump and never sharp, but when you are trying to crochet on fabric, you need to be able to push through the fabric so the yarn or thread has something to hold onto.  And here comes the sharp crochet hook! Dahh da da dahhhhhh!! If you want to know more or check out this cool website, click here!

Thanks for checking it out!

I'm following along to my first crochet along!

Ok, sounds a little repetitive, doesn't it? Well it is! Ü

I love a sweet little blog called: www.maybematilda.com.  Check it out sometime!  She is so talented in all that she touches! I love love love her patterns, photos and blog posts.  She is hosting a crochet-along this month. What is that, you ask? See?! Isn't that marvelous?!

Just click on my button on the side of my blog and that will start you on your way to crochet along with us!  At the end of the activity, you have the opportunity to post a pic of your finished work and will be voted on!  If you are a winner, you get free patterns! New Hats for Fall--Support your local team!

Hello Friends!

I have thought up some really cute pattern ideas for my hats! Sports is a huge thing in so many peoples lives. It keeps our kids busy, our families doing things together. What better way to keep your loved ones warm? I know it is hard to imagine being the temp today will reach over 90 here in Portland! OUCH!

I wanted to show you some new designs perfect for your favorite sports team/sport/league/school mascot!

I love being an Oregonian. I love even more that we have 2 rival schools here in the NW and it's fun to cheer both teams on! I guess I'm a platapus!

So, I am making Duck and Beaver hats that show the proud colors of green and yellow, black and orange. Also, stitching "O" on the hat. For ladies, I can also add a flower with the contrasting color, to remove and add onto the hat, just cover up the "O".

Are you fans of other teams? How about the Bowmen, right here in Sherwood? I have the colors to make that up too! Just let me know the team color, name, logo and I will do the rest!

I have made some awesome BYU hats too! So, let's get creative! I can virtually do any color, any school, any sport! I am so excited going into this fall season. It is by far my favorite time of the year!

Don't limit yourself to just hats. I can do scarves, headbands, gloves, earwarmers, cowl scarves, flowers, bows...you name it..I can do it! Thank you for looking today, I hope to hear from you!

Email me at aimeeanewman@gmail.com for ordering and ideas!

A new, better blog!

I am new to the blogging world, as well as selling items on my blog. I am learning as I go! I have also re-designed my blog, hopefully with better, easier fonts to read. I love the old school handwriting I had on it earlier, but I agree, it was difficult to read. Please give me any feedback or constructive criticism if you see anything that needs to be improved or what you would like to see on my blog. Is the music bugging you? It's starting to bug me..I'll admit it. I love my music, but I forget it is on here, and it makes me jump and get startled! So, if its irritating, I'll take it off. This blog is for you, my followers. I love ya! I am having so much fun with it and love to read your comments! Thank you!

Also, I love showing my work and my crafts. Crocheting has become a huge thing for me. Its therapeutic, I can create and be creative. Some of my work are not originals. I have purchased patterns online, primarily using etsy.com. What an amazing site! There are some very talented people on there and I love using their patterns! I will always get permission from the owner of the pattern, as an OK to view and sell my finished items online. I also want to recognize these talented people behind the pattern. Please note, I will always give credit to the shop.

With that, I realized I posted some items that I have created and put for sale and forgot, not realizing that I didn't give credit to the shop. And in order for me to sell these items and feel good about offering them to you, I must give them credit. The shop is Mamachee.etsy.com. The woman behind this shop, is truly my inspiration! She has the most beautiful patterns, easy to follow..I could go on and on about this shop! Some of my flowers in my shop right now, that attaches to the 3-way headband are her pattern. So, when you have time, please go to her shop on etsy and check it out! She also has a wonderful blog that I follow: www.easymakesmehappy.blogspot.com

Thank you mamachee! xoxo aimee

Prices are just $2 for small $3 medium and $4 for large flowers
and the headband is just $3. The look I am sportin' in these pics was just $5! Small flower+3-way headband!

Ahhh we made it to Saturday!

Happy Saturday everyone! I am a busy bee today, after sleeping in and watching a movie, its time to get busy! (This is when Olivia Newton John comes skipping in with her 80's leotard and sweatbands..Let's get physical, physical!!!)

I'm so sorry, but I had to do that! Wish me luck, I have a few crochet orders I must finish today, but they are going to some AMAZING people! I'm finishing up headbands, hats and flowers. I am also trying to make some hats for a very dear friend who works with a bunch of roughnecks. He is always cold at work and needs a hat, but doesn't want to look "gay" in a crochet hat! I don't care who you are, you will always look good in a hat. And I can make you look good in one of my hats! I think for fun, I'll put a huge rainbow flower on his, whattya think?

Maybe I should change my name to busy as a bee!!! bzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz..

Til next time, Bees Buzzin!

Is it a cell phone holder... or a business card holder?
Either one!! I used it for a while as a cell phone holder, but now using it to hold my business cards! I love it, they are cheap and easy to make! Can change color, size and buttons...

gettin' out there...

just a cute pink hat I made for a customer, I love the flower in front with funky buttons! yellow headband is great to wear on a bad hair day and to keep your ears warm. Very popular! I can make it with or without a flower, or can make flower a clip on to use in other ways!
Doo and I were hammin' it up in the bathroom (has the best light!) The brown brimmed hat is so fun and easy to make! I can make in all sorts of color combos! Pattern was created by Megan published courtesy of her etsy shop "add some stitches"

I got my new business cards in the mail yesterday, I'm very excited! I have a little business card holder I crocheted and I want to put it to good use! I visited with a friend today in Newberg at a little coffee shop called Coffee Cottage. It is so cute and cozy. I have never been there before and so glad I went! I am not drinking coffee anymore and I got a mexican hot chocolate. IT was AMAZING! I didn't even miss my coffee! I wore my cute brown hat that I, yes, crocheted and got a lot of comments on it. I was able to talk about my business and give out a card. I invited the barista to check out my blog and keep in contact. I just love meeting people and sharing my work with them. It makes me happy when I can bring a little sunshine into peoples lives. And if my little stitches do that, so be it. Please enjoy more pics of my work and some new things I am trying out. Again, anything you see is for sale and just drop me an email and we can get talking on price, color size and style! xoxo aimee

Taking a road less traveled...

I decided to start a blog to preview and talk about my new lil' business I am starting up on my own. I love to create things and with recent changes in my life, going on disability for some health issues and not bringing in enough money to support my lil' family, I decided to incorporate what I love to do and try to bring in some money doing it, and with that, lazy as a daisy design was born. My grandmother taught me how to crochet when I was 9 years old and I have loved it ever since. Starting with my first project was a baby blanket made of granny squares for my new baby brother or sister. Having no idea that baby was to be a boy, he received a multi colored blankie with pinks, blues, greens and yellow. Safe for any newborn to be seen in...Fast forward 20 years later and I still get help from my grandma and hope to pass on that little piece of love she gave me so long ago. I love my grandma nonnie so much and hope she is proud of me and my little creations.

I have since taught my daughter daisy (Doo) who is 10, to crochet and has become obsessed with making amigurumi style dolls. What the heck is amigurumi you ask? It is translated as, "japanese crochet dolls". Doo has created several animals in the last couple weeks. A very curious octopus, a square dude called, "dude", a petite tiger and in the making of a wiener dog, named Mr. Wienie. I hope you enjoy my blog, my photos, and a little snippet of my life. Please offer your advice, stories, memories and joy as we settle on a road less traveled..
